Father Damien of Molokai & Robert Louis Stevenson's response to a self-appointed Devil's advocate By Kelly Wilson
Father Damien de Veuster, a Belgian priest (1840-1889) who volunteered to be the pastor of a leper colony on the island of Molokai, was beatified by Pope Benedict, who announced his forthcoming canonization. St. Damien died of leprosy.
