Parents: alarm bells are ringing for your children
By Alphonse de Valk
Issue: July/August 2010

This edition is as close as we have ever come to publishing a “theme” issue. Four letters to the editor (pp. 5-7) start the reader off by introducing the problem in Ontario: the proposed mandatory imposition of the “Equity and Inclusivity” program on your children.  The purpose of this program is wider than the lurid sex education announced in January, promulgated by Premier Dalton McGuinty in April, and immediately rejected by the populace as intolerable.

This second program seeks to destroy the wider foundations of human reason, the natural moral law, by replacing it with pornographic living habits and behaviour of man-made sensuality.  The law of God calls for responsibility, purity, self-restraint and discipline. The idolatry of self-worship and self-love calls for the throwing off of moral restraints. It is the outcome of 50 years of agitation by its GLBT (gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, transgendered) promoters.

Ontario School Boards

The letters to the editor are followed by an exposé of how Ontario School Boards, including many Catholic ones, have surrendered to the bullying of the GLBT agitators (pp. 9-10).  They have declared all opposition to their lifestyle a crime. However, the law, both natural and criminal, only forbids acts of violence and personal acts of unjust discrimination against individuals.  But in 2005, having achieved federal legislation instituting the biological and linguistic absurdity of “same-sex marriage,” the GLBT group, formerly supposed “victims,” became bullies. Today they demand submission from everyone. Children from K-12 are to be taught that the same-sex lifestyle and behaviour must be accepted as normal, natural and equal.

How to stop this program

What is there to stop the “equity and inclusiveness” people? First, there is the religious heritage of the overwhelming majority of Canadians. It has taught for thousands of years that marriage is a union between one man and one woman for life, and not a casual acquaintance of shorter or longer duration between two persons of the same sex.

Secondly, and of immediate usefulness in Ontario, there is the Christian community with rights and freedoms of their own. The British North America Act (BNA Act) of 1867, Section 95, regrafted into the Constitutional Act of 1982, still protects the freedom of Catholic schools and the rights and freedom of religion of all Canadians. Pages 11-15 provide an outline of what the Catholic Church means by that. Please read it.

Church Determination

Let no one be under the illusion that Catholic moral and ethical teaching will buckle under the assault of an Ontario Ministry of Education nor, for that matter, because of recent totalitarian threats from Quebec’s Ministries of Education and Justice. These intend to replace ethical teaching in schools with atheist, feminist, and homosexualist nonsense.

On pages 18-19 we present an alternative program for sex education Alive to the World. It has been successful in Latin America and lately in Catholic schools in Britain. An English version therefore is available. It is called “values education” and is based on modern research by psychologists, developmentalists and sexologists. Ontario Catholic education leaders, including bishops, should give serious consideration to replacing the failed Fully Alive program with Alive to the World.

Our theme concludes with observations from Pope Benedict XVI about the “insidiousness” of same-sex “marriage,” about the Church’s distinctions over the term “discrimination” and examples of the demand that other abnormal behaviours be recognized in law as universal “rights.”

Parents and Trustees

What should parents do? In Ontario, there will be elections in November for school trustees. Therefore, first examine your trustee. From now on every trustee must be openly pro-life and ready to defend Church teaching.

Yes, we know: some professional educators treat trustees without respect. They claim to know everything and regard trustees as knowing nothing. Trustees, therefore, must recover their authority by sheer force of will. They are responsible for the schools, not school board bureaucrats or dissenting teachers. Many more faithful Catholics should run for trustee. This is not a time to issue innocuous newsletters to your wards. What is at stake are the souls of both the public and Catholic systems.

The trustees of the Toronto Catholic District School Board have been suspended now for two years. They should not be re-elected unless they publicly acknowledge they will fight the Equity program.

Catholic schools should a) not employ teachers who are in a same-sex relationship or are self-declared homosexuals; b) no longer accept children of parents in same-sex relationships because these parents will demand special considerations for equity and inclusiveness teachings; c) close down “gay-straight alliances” groups in high schools.

Why should this be done? See Archbishop Chaput on page 21. Also available on the web:http://www.catholicinsight.com/online/article_973.shtml

Catholic Schools must bar homosexual teachers and parents by Archbishop Charles Chaput of Denver, Colorado “Our schools are partners in faith,” he states. Those who contradict the faith, have no place in Catholic schools.
