Same-sex "blessings" cause Anglican rift By Insight Staff
On June 15, 2002, the governing synod of the 26,000 Anglican faithful in the diocese of New Westminster, B.C., voted 63% to 37% in favour of blessing homosexual unions in a church service. The vote received the approval of diocesan bishop Michael Ingham, a well-known dissenter from Christian doctrinal tradition. It brings to a head a long simmering dispute among Anglicans worldwide. This discovery began in the late nineteen-seventies as the homosexual drive for acceptance throughout society gathered strength in Western countries...

The Anglican debate on women bishops By Catholic Insight Staff
London- In April, an Anglican group declared that its members will leave the Church of England if it consecrates women bishops-as it is expected to do within the next few years. Forward in Faith is a group of Anglicans who do not accept women priests (see "Anglican split widens" C.I., March 2000, pp. 21-22).

The recent past has witnessed quite a few attempts to explain the Anglican-Roman Catholic position on various questions including Holy Orders, the Real Presence, and of course, the source of final authority within the Church. The questions raised are incapable of any immediate solution acceptable to Anglicans.
